Chapter 11: Humanization of the Creature

After reading this chapter, we as the readers begin to grasp the idea that the Victor's creation possesses many human qualities.  We also gain a deep understanding of how sensitive he really is as he narrates his tale.  We see him as an innocent and defenseless infant.  Thus far, and as you will find out in the following chapters, do you find the creature more or less sympathetic than the character of Victor Frankenstein?  Explain.

  1. i find that the creature is more sympathetic because he just wants his creator to like him, yea hes a murderer, but he just wants his creator to give him a chance. He just wants to show him he can be someone you can like, or be a dreadful creature everyone portrays him to be. He hasn't killed his creator and isn't planning to, but on the other hand Victor is thinking the complete opposite.

  2. As we read it becomes obvious that the creature is more sympathetic than Victor. I believe it's cause he doesn't understand much, like a new born and learns from what he hears and sees. He just wants what every human wants, to be loved and have that sense of belonging. As for Victor he doesn't even care about what he created and can careless that he let to people die.

  3. Though the creature doesn't know much he still seems to have a sense of compassion in him. Being brought up, in a sense, in a world that looks at you with disgust isn't the best greeting one can have. With this being said, i feel much more sympathy towards the creature then Vicor. Victor is a vile man whom was dissappointed ast his creation, in which he wanted fame and fortune!!

  4. The creature wants victor to be more sympathetic towards him but still has vengence against him for just running out on him. Its like getting a baby in your life and you run out on it its gonna think its all its fault and alot of bad stuff happens he doesnt have anybody there to tell him right from wrong and the creatures wrong is commiting the murder. he just wants to be loved but he keeps getting rejected so he does wrong think that nobody loves himso who is it gonna hurt not him.

  5. Cindy Sanchez,

I believe that the creature is more sympathetic than the character of Victor Frankenstein. We see him as an innocent and defenseless infant because he is willing to learn by himself by watching/listening to others he struggles, but he enjoys it.

  6. The creature is more considerate than Victor. He was created without knowing anything, therefore since he has been watching his firends his manners are very similar to them.Victor has grown like a humann being and has learned that life isint easy. Frankeinstein is like a little kid everything he sees other s doing he does the same. "Monkey see monkey do."

  7. The creature is more sympathetic than Victor. He shows more compassion than Victor towards others. The creature helps the cottagers when he saw that they were poor. Victor just shuns everyone away and doesn't bother to do anything about what he did.

  8. In this chapter, Frankenstein is more symathetic than Victor. Victor reall doesnt carre about his feelings, he's more like whatever when the creature iis just trying to feel like he belongs, he wants to be loved.. Briana Bolivar;)

  9. I think the creature is more sympathetic than Victor. He grows up seeing the kindness in people. Like an infant he doesn't see the bad in people. He just wants to fit in. On the other hand Victor has grown up like a normal person and knows that not everyone is kind.

  10. I believe that the creature is more sympathetic than Victor. The creature grew up seeing the kindness of people and how loving somebody can really be. Him seeing that made him want to be accepted from the human society and that is all he wants. Now that he has more of an understanding of how mankind is he comprehends that not everyone is kind.

  11. I agree with Raul. The creature is more sympathetic than Victor. Victor sees the creature and immediately disowns and abhors him without thinking how hard it would be for the creature to make it in society or even accepted. He was meerely thinking of himself and his opinions. The creature soon becomes less sympathetic for humans as his encounters with them become more and more violent, but not nearly as umsympathetic as Victor.
